TATE AIMS FOR GREAT FINALE

TATE ZISCHKE is hoping to end the season on a high and help Workington climb off the bottom of the Cab Direct Championship table. 

The Comets go to Plymouth this evening seeking a vital victory in Devon, live on BSN.

A win for Workington at The Coliseum or at home to Redcar next weekend would condemn Oxford to the wooden spoon. 

Zischke, 21, has had another classy campaign for the Cumbrians and wants a strong finish for both his clubs. 

He said: “I had to take the nine days off for the concussion injury. It was a bit boring not doing much just resting. 

“I don’t remember the crash at all. They are the hard ones when you are in front and you don’t know it’s coming and then you hit your head. 

“I’ve had a fair few bad head knocks now in my career. But I’ll forget about that now and kick on. 

“My first meeting back was at Oxford and I felt really good on the bike straight away in my first heat. 

“Everything was working so it was good to carry that on at Northampton for Belle Vue. 

“Hopefully we can just keep that going. I’ve got two meetings left with the Comets and hopefully we can finish with two wins. Then it’s Belle Vue with Sheffield and the play-offs. 

“I just want to finish the season on a high and that starts with Workington.”

Plymouth host two meetings in four days with the Comets and then Glasgow on Tuesday night. 

The Gladiators will be looking to complete the double over the Comets after a 45-43 win in Cumbria in early May. 

Plymouth operate rider replacement for injured No.1 Scott Nicholls whilst Workington name a full-strength line-up for their second match in 24 hours following Friday’s defeat at Scunthorpe.
