Sedgmen aims for double flourish

JUSTIN SEDGMEN admits Edinburgh have got their sights on a crucial final double flourish.

The Monarchs’ Aussie star says they want to finish their Cab Direct Championship campaign in style, starting with a win at Scunthorpe on Friday night, live on BSN.

Sedgy, 34, believes that his side can take a victory at the Eddie Wright Raceway and then also get a result at Berwick 24 hours later. 

He said: “We obviously still want to win our remaining two fixtures at Scunthorpe and Berwick and we are definitely capable of doing that.

“It’s been a funny season, it’s been a bit hit and miss and a lot of days off doing nothing. 

“There have been two things that have caught me out this year. The lack of riding but also because of the hot summer, the tracks have been different to work out. 

“The start of year was going well and I was getting better and then the British Grand Prix came along and everything stopped with a lack of fixtures.”

The Monarchs go into the clash with a full strength side while Scunthorpe draft in Jordan Jenkins for broken collarbone victim Jacob Hook.

Sedgmen added: “We’ve got a good side. Dan Thompson has had a tough time with his injury and Kye Thomson has been excellent. 

“We’ll go to Scunthorpe to try and get a result we need. The track is a great leveller. 

“Josh Pickering has had a really great year for them. I think he’s carried the team a lot but they are in the top four for a reason and it’s a tough place to go.”
